LG AC error codes: CH05, CH04, CH38, CH07 and control board fixes
LG air conditioners (Dual Inverter, Artcool, multi-split) use CHxx error codes. Each points to a specific fault, and most are board- or component-level repairs.
Most common LG codes
By fault family.
- CH05 : indoor-outdoor communication error (wiring, comm section of PCB)
- CH04 : drain pump / float switch
- CH07 : mode conflict on multi-split
- CH38 / CH10 : sensor or fan/BLDC motor fault
- Inverter protection : IPM module on the outdoor board
Diagnosis order
Cheapest to most expensive.
Surges (storms) often kill the communication stage on LG outdoor boards. A surge protector upstream is good prevention.
- For CH05, check the outdoor wiring and terminal block first
- Measure sensor resistance for sensor codes
- Confirm the BLDC fan motor before the board
- Inspect the outdoor power board for damage
Repair vs replace
Board confirmed faulty.
- Replace the exact PCB reference (new or refurbished)
- Component-level repair for hard-to-find boards
- Much cheaper than a new outdoor unit
