Gree AC error codes: E6, H6, F0, U8 and how to repair the PCB
Gree makes air conditioners sold under many brands worldwide. Its error codes are shared across most OEM rebrands, which makes them useful to know for sourcing and repair.
Most common Gree codes
By fault family.
- E6 : indoor-outdoor communication error (wiring, comm board)
- H6 : indoor fan motor (no feedback) or its driver
- F0 : refrigerant shortage / low pressure
- U8 : indoor zero-crossing / PCB fault
- H5 : IPM module protection on the inverter board
Diagnosis order
Cheapest to most expensive.
Inverter DC bus stays dangerously charged after power-off. Wait for discharge before measuring.
- Check wiring/terminal for E6
- Confirm the fan motor for H6 before the board
- Check refrigerant charge for F0 (F-Gas certified only)
- Inspect the inverter board for IPM damage on H5
Repair vs replace
Board confirmed faulty.
- Replace the exact Gree PCB reference (new or refurbished)
- Same board often fits OEM rebrands
- Component-level repair possible for rare boards
